Chapter One: Challenge the Impossible – A meditation for going beyond your limits

“Whether you believe you can do a thing or not, you are right.”
-Henry Ford
- Warm up: jog, dance, run; anything to get the blood circulating.
- Set your goal: choose a calisthenic that you regularly do. Previous to attempting this, you must know your previous high in terms of quantity.
- Take three very deep, slow, and long breaths extending each inhale and exhale as long as you comfortably can.
- Release any thoughts about what you already did today or what you plan to do later today.
- Say to yourself three times, “I am here, it is now.”
- Bring to mind something that, for you is a symbol for your higher, or highest, power.
- If there is nothing that comes to mind—or if emptiness is you symbol or higher power or, if you simply prefer something neutral, than visualize a white light and let that represent infinity for you.
- Take whatever time is needed to get a picture of this symbol clearly to mind.
- Visualize this symbol somewhere close to you and in front of you, make it around the size of a softball.
- As best you can, really believe that, just for this exercise, infinity is really present.
- Again, FEEL IT.
- Now visualize this symbol splitting into two equal sizes; each of these represents infinity just as with one. FEEL IT RADIATE.
- Now visualize the one on your left side entering your left foot; and the one on the right entering your right foot.
- Feel them permeating the bones, blood, muscle, tendons, and ligaments.
- Now visualize them moving up into your left and right lower leg and again feel them, each in turn, permeating your bones, muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
- Similarly, move each up in turn into: the knees, thighs, and pelvis on the left and on the right.
- As the symbols rise, they leave part of themselves behind but each “part” is infinity since infinity cannot be divided.
- At the level of the waist (the navel), the two come together, merge, and enlarge to encompass the whole waste and stomach region.
- The one larger symbol slowly also encompasses your low back and spine, then it rises slightly to the solar plexus at the “v” just beneath the sternum.
- Now it again divides into two. Visualize one going to the left hand, the other to the right.
- Similar to the lower extremity, see each into turn going up to the forearms, elbows, arms, shoulders, throat, head, back into the throat, then down into the chest, and back to the solar plexus once again.
- Again, as the symbols rise, they leave part of themselves behind but each “part” is infinity since infinity cannot be divided.
- Visualize it wherever you want—perhaps in each of the chakras.
- FEEL IT
- Take your time
- Whenever you are ready, visualize it all throughout your whole body—cells, muscles, blood, bone, ligaments, tendons, lymph and skin. Let it also encompass your aura.
- Whenever you can honestly FEEL some sort of shift, open your eyes.
- Warm up your muscles once again while continuing to visualize the infinity symbol wherever you want.
- Remember your goal.
- Do your challenge with a relaxed face and while continuing to visualize infinity.
- CELEBRATE the victory of mind over matter.
